Vanier Scholarship for Susan Bazilli's PhD research at UBC Law

Another feminist PhD student has been awarded a prestigious graduate scholarship (see last week’s post about Kerri Froc).

Susan Bazilli is at UBC under the supervision of Susan Boyd, along with Margot Young.  She’s got a long history of activism and is the director of the movie “Constitute!” about women’s activism and constitution making in Canada.  Her current project also has a film component and focuses on the constitutional struggle of South African women.

Here’s a 2009 article Susan co wrote with Marilou McPhedran which takes a comparative look at women’s constitutional activism in Canada and South Africa.

Congratulations to all who have been successful in funding competitions – even as the funding pie in Canada at least is being stripped down to the bare…crust.
